    Re: RIP Phil Lesh

Yeah, I heard it earlier today.

I have an odd memory. The California company I worked for had a couple of gatherings at Terrapin Crossroads, a food-and-music venue in San Rafael. The restaurant was founded by Phil Lesh, and on occasion, patrons were treated to free performances of Phil Lesh & Friends. I was there one such night. It was very cool having (good) food only feet away from a Grateful Dead legend.

He will be missed, one of the greatest musicians of my generation.

When Charlie Watts passed, I was destroyed. Honestly, it was like losing an uncle to me.

Phil... I'm a late born Dead fan and I love Bob's new iterations of the band. Dead & Co. particularly. But I've always missed Phil in the mix, though their bassist, Mr. Burbridge, is perhaps even a more versatile performer (I love and admire him too!!!!).

I wish musicians didn't have to die. Period.

Unlike many of us, musicians leave behind a much larger legacy.
