Oh, Why Couldn't It Be a Strat?

My daughter has started a side hustle with an old friend of hers flipping houses. I won't go into the gory details, but the latest house was a hovel. It was filthy, and there were boxes and all kinds of leftovers. Today, she and her crew are "demo"ing it. That's short for demolition. As they were going through the mess, she found this and sent me a photo. The headstock reads "Rockwood Pro by Hohner." It's also got RP150B as the model on the headstock.

There's one just like it on Reverb listed for $205+$65. It's been on the market for two years. Except this one has a weird widget on the pickguard left of the bottom string. Weird.

I don't want it. My daughter doesn't play. I'm leaving her to decide if it goes in a dumpster or finds a home somewhere.

Why couldn't it have been a Strat? Or a Tele? Even a Jaguar or Mustang would have found a warm welcome under my roof!

Tell her to grab it and give it a look-see. You never know. If it's a POS you can always use it to start a dumpster fire.

I've ended up with (no name) instruments in trades, or even cheaply bought outright. Restring, and set up, put it on CL calling it a starter, usually a parent will contact about it. Play it through a good amp, and offer to let them to hear the difference with a "quality" instrument, they won't hear any, and the price is right!

Yeah, I thought of that. It all depends on if she decides to truck it home.

Dude, the HSC is worth a half all day long.

Believe me, I considered that, too. If I'd been with her, the bass and case would be here with me now.

Oh that widget that I think you reference is a thumb rest. I?d grab it, spend an hour setting it up and try it. If you don?t want it sell it.
