    Sunday Mawnin' Thread 11/24/2024

It's turkey week and the start of "the great unconsciousness. "
This is the time when people claim to be too busy to do anything for the next 40 days because "it's the holidays and everything."
I am mystified by this annual process where the observation of 3 holidays is blamed for the alleged chaos over the next 40 days.
Personally, I think it just gives folks an excuse for whatever.
Anyway, my girl and I rented a place in Otis MA and moved in last week. Since arriving I have had the good fortune of meeting some great players at a blues open mic, and an acoustic open mic. They're well run and a great chance to play will other skilled players.
Having fun and looking forward to the winter.

Thanks for starting the thread, Telenator!

Autumn has arrived, and for some odd reason I'm finding my room humidifier isn't keeping pace. I've cleaned it throughly but find that the best it can do right now is keep the room at about 39%-40% RH. I'm not overly concerned yet, because I have Humidipaks in the guitars that I value the most (just bought a new set for my Lowden) and they seem to fill in the gap, but I'm keeping my eye on the humidifier anyway.

Just another routine Sunday for me, but the week ahead includes my friend's annual "pie party," where he and his wife give away pumpkin or apple pies to the friends and clients (they're realtors), a teeth cleaning appointment the next day and then Thanksgiving at my daughter's.

In the meantime, my Soundbrenner app is helping track my practice time. Which is no big deal, as I practice every day, but it's oddly cool to see how many days it's been since I went traveling without my guitar. It was quite a revelation to realize how much my playing has been influenced by the Jefferson Airplane/Starship and now I'm adding If You Feel to my repertoire. The 6/8 time at 167 bpm is a bit challenging, but I'm getting there.

Be well, my friends. Happy Thanksgiving to those who celebrate it.

Telenator - Otis isn't that far away - it's a nice area. We used to ride out snowmobiles up there every weekend back in the day.... We had our annual conference last weekend. 600 of my favorite school board members and superintendents. Turns out some of them must have had COVID because now I've got it. Symptoms aren't too bad - like a bad cold - the Mr's has it too. We were supposed to host dinner on T Day - that's not going to happen now.

Getting a lot of rest - not feeling up to much else.

My wife and I enjoyed a musical production of ?Young Frankenstein? at an intimate little local theater last night and really enjoyed it. We?ll have to do that a more often as it was a fun evening and it sure beat sitting and watching the television.

We?re looking forward to the holiday season and the good memories it brings. As a child my family would gather at the home of a different relative to celebrate each night of the twelve days of Christmas. All of my family is now deceased so it is just my wife and I (sons don?t make it home for the holidays) recalling all those great times.

Cool beans Bob. I think you're about an hour away from Daryl's house - may be stopping through there soon. We should make some musical mayhem together :)

Good to see things are going great for you.

seasonally brisk, partly cloudy in the granite state. not much on the slate today. no jam as my buddy is taking his aunt to lunch. Music room construction is progressing nicely. One HVAC tube has been reworked into a format that will require less framing for a soffit.

got a game but it's probably not going to be a good one. my knee is doing so much better that I think I'm going to take advantage of the lack of rain and go for a walk today albeit not a long one. my back is about 90% better. That cold I had last week is nearly gone. I did a Covid test and it was negative so I went to that audiologist appointment. Hearing is stable, yay. Horrible white knuckle drive in the rain 90 miles to get home. People are driving like absolute lunatics out there.

got some cooking to do this week to prep for Thursday, have all the ingredients. the last thing I want to do is go anywhere near a grocery store the next few days. you all have a great Thanksgiving.

Cooking for me starts tomorrow with the stuffing, a cornbread, herb-and-sage blend with sausage, butter-sauteed celery and onions, plus my secret blend of spices. The rest of the menu items consist of a roast chicken, a Butterball turkey breast, whipped potatoes and gravy, honey-roasted carrots, cranberry sauce, and a dutch-apple pie for desert. Should be enough food to last until Christmas.
