We Got Us A January! The Sunday Thread For 5-Jan-2025

According to my thermometer, it's 18?F outside right now. And it's only 7:30am. The forecasters are calling for 5-8 inches of snow later today, so if I have any plans to go out today (I do), I'm going to do them early! Otherwise, it's a handegg-and-guitar kind of day. Indoors.

    Stay warm, stay happy, folks.

Woo Hoo?woke up to 7.5 degrees showing on the outdoor thermometer readout making iypt beautiful weather for a Packer game. The last one I was at was a play-off game where it was around 3 degrees at the beginning of the game. By the end of the game I had inch long icicles hanging from my mustache. Lets all pray for a Packer win because, as we all know?the Bears still suck!

    Have a great day!

    LOL!

True story: I've been a Redskins fan for more than 50 years (and yes, I still call them Redskins). During the 1980s, the 'Skins were one of the top teams in the NFL, winning three Super Bowls. On a trip to Chicago in 1986, I remember someone talking smack about the Bears, who'd won the Super Bowl earlier that year. A little smack-talking of my own, I bet the guy the Bears wouldn't win another.

To this day, they have not.

And... I'm pretty glad the Redskins drafted Jayden Daniels. The Bears took Caleb Williams, and as far as I'm concerned, they can have him. Both Heismann Trophy winners, but Daniels has set the world on fire. One-shot wonder? We'll see...

I used to play in the group that originally recorded this song written by Jim Krueger (author of “We Just Disagree”). My Schnapps stage name was ?Fynkylmyr?.

Re: We Got Us A January! The Sunday Thread For 5-Jan-2025

we're relatively mild at 31 degrees on a cloudy day. I'm enjoying every minute that remains snow free. Got up to see that maybe next Saturday might be the first real snow event of the season. Still 7 days away, a lot can change.

Had a nice NYE, stayed home, hung out with my cat and bro. He fell asleep before midnight, I was talking to him 10 minutes before. Went to my office and came back out with seconds to go and he was out cold, LOL.

I'm so discombobulated. Almost didn't know it was Sunday but for the handegg pre-game shows that bro is watching with his GF. Probably not going to jam this weekend, haven't heard from my jam partner. Got a guitar sold this week and shipped it off Friday ... to the Midwest. Where a major storm is happening. Fingers crossed. I asked the buyer if they wanted to ship it anyway and they said 'yes'. Found an inexpensive case for my bass.

Got one more guitar to sell, my partscaster strat. Not in a rush. Since the construction of the basement is on pause (knew it would happen, seldom do these things go as planned), I'm going to configure a recording setup at my regular desk. Unless I mount my speakers on the wall, I'm not giving up real estate for them so it will be phones only (and they'll be hung on the wall as well. The audio interface will go under my monitor and I'll stack the minis and switch the cables manually when I record. Unless anybody can direct me to a switching system that doesn't take up a whole lot of space.
