    That Was Quite Fun!

I'm having a couple weeks off as our singer is getting a knee replacement. Using the break to do couple of sit-in jobs for local bands.

Last night I was free, and I have a Padawan that I've been trying to get connected with the music scene, so I grabbed a Strat and ran downtown to a local Blues jam with him. BTW, my apprentice chickened out at the last moment and no-showed. Since I was already there what the heck? Didn't know any of the players but the core band was surprisingly really pro. I grabbed my axe and went straight into a Princeton Reverb. No monitor, no lights, just playing. Man, it's been years and years since I've played that way. It was so much fun! No pedals, nuthin. Just use the axe, a cord and the amp and coax the sound out. Guys were cool, place had a good vibe and I made some new friends. Took me back to my roots.

Thought of you Bob, a young guy showed up with a Yamaha RevStar with P90's. I told him I thought it was really hip.

    Sounds like great fun!
There was a guy at a very good blues jam a few weeks ago that was playing through a Deluxe Reverb. It was dialed in beautifully. Same thing. No pedals. just crank up the guitar volume and it sang. Drop the volume and it cleaned up.

It did all this at a remarkably low volume too. I played 6 or 8 tunes through it and fully enjoyed the experience.

And yes, the Revstar continues to haunt me. It's a really cool guitar.
