A busy week for music.
Starting to get a small toe hold in the Berkshire music scene.
I've been invited to sit in with a really cool group in the region that plays a lot of Americana Folk and classic acoustic tunes. They set up standing around a single mic and as they sing, solo, and shift dynamics, they move closer to, or further from the mic and manage the sound like this. So cool to watch people perform in this manner and get it right!
I'm going over some of their music in preparation. I truly enjoy this group and look forward to playing with them!
The acoustic duet I've been working on is playing our first gig today in Lee MA. I know about 15 of the songs so far which will get me through about half the gig. Feels good to be playing again!
A couple irons in the fire for some electric blues opportunities as well. It's good!

Bought a used Cub Cadet mower this week. 50" cut! Lawn season is coming soon. And I learned that a 5' x 9' U haul open trailer is in reality only 53" wide. My mower is 54" wide and I wasted 3 hours attempting to go pick it up. Wasted a lot of gas too!

Ah, spring. Lawnmowing season to take over for snow shoveling. On the whole, I'd rather mow the lawn than throw snow on it. Of course, I spoke too soon. Tomorrow we are due for more of the white stuff although the temps will be above freezing for the 9 hours shown so I don't expect much if any accumulation.

The great sell off continues, as does the turbulence which begat it. I've been busy cataloging and listing stuff for sale. I have not been playing at all, I've lost my spark and desperately need live music. I think I'm going to take a break from listing stuff and watching for it to sell and go to the Sunday afternoon jam at Riley's Place in Milford, NH. I really can't afford to go but these are the times that try men's souls.

Finally getting back to playing our weekly jam/open mic session after shutting it down during COVID. We start on this week Thursday, and within a week or so we start rehearsals for the annual two-week fund raising event that I play as one of the “pit boys”.
I haven’t really thought about playing bass since last April so it’s time to get the head back into the game. At almost 80 years old (78 1/2) I find I’m starting to enjoy time away from thinking about chord changes and music.

Bunch of friends were getting together for a weekend at the beach. I decided to join them. Took me five hours to get there, but we had a great time . The only sour note was that after I got home and was re-assembling my Furch Little Jane compact guitar, the neck dove away from me and cracked the sound board. There's a divot I can live with, but the crack is through the wood. Next weekend I will by happy coincidence happen to be where Furch is showing guitars and I hope to ask what I can do. I remember a video with Bob Taylor repairing a cracked acoustic by the simply application of lots of humidity; maybe I can be so lucky?
