The Sunday Thread for Easter (4/20/2025)

    He is risen!

4/20 holds a lot of meaning. This year it covers the best and worst of humanity's experience. I hope everyone has time today to reflect on what life means to us and what gifts we've been given.

I've been volunteered to make the coffee at today's church service, so I'm out of here soon. This evening I've been invited to my daughter's for Easter dinner. I'll be taking the Washburn guitar I've prepared for my granddaughter. Finally.

Tuesday I'm making a day trip with my custom made archtop to have a case made for it. I came across Cedar Creek Cases at the Artisan Guitar Show last weekend, and they're a two hour drive from my home. I'll drop off my guitar and they'll measure it and construct the perfect case for it. Finally.

Wishing everyone a happy Resurrection Sunday. Be well. He is risen!

Nursing a deep finger tip cut. I was cutting up a sweet potato to feed Izzy and Spike, my two porcupine yard pets, and I stabbed myself right through the callouse pad of my left index finger. Not happy about it. The cut is deep and keeps splitting open. It's getting better but requires constant awareness so I don't make it worse.

Learning more new songs just by listening right now so I'll have the familiarity once the cut heals to actually play them.

It seems that it's finally getting warm here and thoughts are turning to bicycles, motorcycles, walking, jamming outdoors, and a host of other activities!

    Have fun everyone!

a bit cooler than yesterday when it almost hit 80 degrees, I was moving stuff out of the cellar and garage to stage for taking to the dump and I was perspiring. Today I'm going to load my car and go early tomorrow. Then I'll move more stuff out of the cellar to the garage to make room for the next phase of construction. It's not certain when it will start but I'm preparing now.

Listing a ton of stuff for sale, been making near daily trips to the post office. At some point, I might try their pickup service. I have a lot of mics for sale and I want to test them before I list them. Going to set up my recording rig. I might even play guitar *gasp*

    happy easter to everybody

My wife and I did the Easter Sunday church visit this morning and are presently sipping bloody marys in anticipation of our dinner later today.

The next few weeks will be kind busy music-wise as I’m playing a weekly open mic/jam session as a house band member and I’ll be starting rehearsals for an annual charity gig that will take up the first two weekends of May. The guitar player in our weekly jam is a hell of a good player with a really excellent voice who is really making me work. I’m an old blueser and he?s a young dude that doesn’t play blues so he just keeps throwing tunes at me I’ve never played before. It really keeps me on my toes as I watch his fretting hand to try to follow him on stuff I’ve never played (or heard) before. It keeps life interesting.
