Just like you asked, I emailed you a couple of days ago.

Well if he does not answer soon.. He uses all Sony, which used to be Sonic Foundry products. At least I think.
I know he uses ACID. Vegas is their multi-track program and Sound forge also.
I use Sound Forge on the final mix.
How much money do you have?
New hardware also?
Recording a whole band or doing it track by track?

Well, I'm just a dumbass trying to do a better job of recording a bass track here on the Sound Check forum.
That's all for now.

Well if you are not deep into analog or digital recording. The only advice I can give is finding something that suits your level. I have programs that are very powerful and have lots of tweaking power.
I've been so lost in the technology that it's stifled my creativity and I've been dreading putting out new projects because the technology has intimidated me. And I work on computers for a living.
And that’s all I have to say about that.

All I'm wanting to do is lay down a few bass tracks in here for fun.
Any suggestions about how to do that would be much appreciated.

Well for me... a bass modeler.. I use a J-Station, and I simply love Guitar Tracks. I have 2.0 that came with my J-Station, but I just ordered Guitar Tracks Pro. Has more tracks and better drum loop capability.
I'm going back to basics with Guitar Tracks just so I can start rolling stuff out again. Once I get rolling, I start coming out with new stuff even faster. It's a snowball effect for me.
With guitar tracks, I can put down a basic song, drums, bass, two rhythm guitars, lead and vocals in about 2 hours. Otherwise it can take me up to a month.
But we are not talking about pro quality. You heard my latest song. It lacks in a lot of ways, but I got it down, and quick too.
But that’s just me....

Hey doc,
I'll hit you with an email later today. I've got some freewre that will do the trick...
Hey Fezz,
care to share the name of the freeware. I have been impressed with the entries in the shuffle in B thread and am curious about how the recordings are done. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
The freeware I'm sending doc is called Multiquence. Photoweborama pretty much spelled out what I use to create my tracks: Sony ACID for doing drums tracks and looped segments, Sony Vegas for multitracking, and Wavelab for mastering. I have ProTools, Cubase, and whole buncha other stuff, but I'm most comfortable using ACID & Vegas...Originally posted by bzimm
