Please, leave a tone after the message.
blues- bores me so i don't listen. anyway, most of the best blues have already been done by guys who are dead.
country- "It's Just The Night" The Del McCoury Band
jazz- "sonic trance" nicholas payton
rock- "a rush of blood to the head" coldplay (my personal favorite album of the year...in fact it ranks up there in my all time list. it's a really fucking good album. every song is solid. tasty guitar work.)
beyond- "yoshimi battles the pink robots" the flaming lips
you should also consider
-"live phish #18- 5/7/94- The Bomb Factory: Dallas, TX" - phish
-"sea changes" - beck
it's just not a friday night without some good chinese beer.
I didnt hear anything new in 2003 that would qualify for best of anything.
Shows you how evil I am... I liked "Speakerboxxx/The Love Below" by OutKast.
To show how really evil I am... I also liked the Rhino HandMade "Faithful Virture" set by John Sebastian.
Education is when you read the fine print. Experience is what you get if you don't. -- Pete Seeger
The only records from 2003 that I purchased were:
Jeff Beck - Jeff
Jeff Beck - Live at BB King's Blues Club
Eric Johnson - Souvenir
Nothing else that I heard produced in 2003 was worth wasting even a quarter.
Best Blues: Delbert McClinton LiveOriginally posted by 3dArray

In fact this is true for anything produced since 1990
Good stuff I've found in '03:
Jazz: Cassandra Wilson- "Glamoured"
Liberty Ellman- "Tactiles"
Dianne Reeves-"A Little Moonlight"
Blues/Country/jazz/Rock/Beyond(Hard to categorize)
Jim Campilongo- "American Hips"
Kelly Joe Phelps- "Slingshot Professionals"
Joe Henry- "Tiny Voices"
Joe Henry's less rural, but these 3 touch on many styles.
Most of the obviously "rock" stuff I tried I found dissappointing.
White Stripes, Black Keys...
"There's only 2 kinds of music, good and the other kind." (Or words to that effect)- Duke Ellington
"Well, I used to be disgusted, now I try to be amused..."
Elvis Costello
