Amplifying an acoustic...
Situation:
I have a 1930s? Gibson L50 archtop with f holes. I'd like to come up with a convenient, low-cost way of playing it with my band.
Currently I've got some sort of contact pickup that I assume is piezo-based that I tape to the front. I'm looking for something less obtrusive, preferably internally mounted.
Is there some little mic that I could mount to the underside of the pickguard maybe?
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I'd use one of these: Fralin

Pretty cool. Thanks, Fezz. Have you experience with those?
I'd really like to get a true "acoustic" sound from this thing. I want to amplify the vibration of the top moreso than the vibration of the strings.
I'm not a huge fan of the sound piezo pickups render either.

A little clip on lavalier mic might do it, but it's gonna get squirrely...

Ah, yes. Now that I understand.
I've had some communication with Matt Artinger (who lives in my town - how cool is that?!) on this issue. He's recommending something by an outfit called Highlander that he's going to mount inside the guitar. I'm jazzed!!
