i rebuilt my bass board last night. i slimmed it down to the bare essentials. the comp and sansamp are for church where i need to warm up the solid state amps, they do a great job and make the amps sound/feel like my v4b. the fulltone fulldrive 2 has been modded to bassdriver specs. 3 caps? whatever it was, i also changed the vol pot to get more throw on it. i put a 50k in there instead of the 100k. i've forgone the looper pedals and tuner mute as i think i'm the only one who can hear the difference. anyways, here's what i'm running.

My pedalboard is undergoing changes.

The setup that worked well with my Mesa Express and tweed Deluxe clone- Fulltone Clyde Wah, BMF Fat Bastard, Fulltone '69 Pedal, BYOC DD80 Delay, Voodoo Lab Tremolo, Tuner- doesn't work as well with my Vibrolux Reverb.

With that amp I do not need the Tremolo and the amp does not respond as well with the '69 pedal but works really well with my Fulldrive 2 Mosfet and AMZ Mini Booster.

If I could afford it I'd set up a second pedalboad for use with the VR that would include Wah, Mini Booster, Fulldrive, delay and tuner.

Interesting. I haven't found the mini-booster works as well with BF style amps - at least with single coils. It does wonders with tweeds, though. I should try it again with humbuckers. Fuzzes also don't work so well with BF amps, for the most part. I like the Timmy and the OCD for different dirt styles. I'm actually finding the Tube Driver in the M9 sounds really nice, too.

I like the mini booster with my ES135. It gives me a cranked Freddie King type of sound. The Fulldrive does that too with the switches set to CompCut and Mosfet.

Mine is a bit more complex....rebuild in planning. I am pondering making 2 loops - 1 for each channel of a BF amp or going back to a 2 amp setup with a 50 wat Marshall 1x12 combo on top of a matching 1x12 and the current piggyback DRRI I have built...also then using some kind of ABY setup...

Generally when we gig (has not been so much lately) we have enough space...so plans are being made...

The Tim is usually on. Knobs ~12:00, to warm up the Super Reverb when it's below 3. For real dirt, I kick on the distortion side of the D/P. The Tim may be swapped out for the Timmy, just for size considerations.

Words can't describe how well this simple setup works for my current musical situation. Of course, I can manipulate the reverb and trem to my heart's content.

Mine is a work in progress...i.e. still finding the pieces of the puzzle I need.

For instance, the Angry fuzz will likely be replaced with an MXR Slash Octave Fuzz when I can afford one, and the DS1 will probably be replaced with an MXR Modified OD. I haven't decided whether to keep the Behringer stuff just yet, but it actually sounds clean and doesn't add to the overall noise floor, so I might just keep 'em. They sound pretty good for sub-$35 toys.

When I finally settle on the specific pieces, I'm gonna wire my board with Lava or George L's and run much of the cabling underneath (or at least clean it up as much as possible)....

But for now - here it is...I put multiple colors of Duct tape on there - it's cheap 'n' cheerful 'n' fun...

It has not changed as much as I thought it would in my earlier reply. I think the only real differences are that I replaced my big H&K Rotosphere with a Tech 21 Rotochoir that actually fits on the board and replaced my old Fender pedal tuner with a Turbo Tuner.

Glad that is working for you. I still fire up the M9 I got from time to time, and it's a lot of fun to play with, but at the end of the day, I really like something boneheaded simple to work with. In much the same way that I have a cordless screwdriver somebody gave me a decade ago still in the clamshell pack.

Your situation can make the most of an endless variety of sounds. Me, I just want stuff that works predictably.

For example, in my overly complex two pedal setup, the Tim gives me a bit more warmth and the D/P gives me a fistful of different modulation sounds from very subtle to extreme. The distortion side of the D/P doesn't sound "natural" in that TGP modern sense. It does, however sound like 70's rock records, which in my opinion, is not only as "legitimate" as a sound, but also makes me stand out from every other yutz out there, yet in a familiar way.

It works great for the current band which is very much tilted in a early 70's SoCal vibe. Little Feat, Asylum records, Buckingham/Nicks era Fleetwoods and the simplest of 'Dan tunes, as well as some N. The option anxiety of the M9 would take it in a direction that wouldn't work nearly as well.

Other than the changes mentioned above (the Rotochoir and Turbo Tuner replacing similar pedals), this has been my setup for years. Being an amateur blues guitarist, I can get away with a simple setup.

You've been playing that for a while. Did it take you a while to tweak it in, or are you using it unconventionally? It's not the most popular box on the block, but I have no doubt you are getting great sounds out of it.

This is the 355 (three pedals), previously I used the 255 (two pedals). Makes it a lot more usable live.

I have a very small set of presets that I use. It's pretty simple to tweak using the USB and computer. I plug it in to my amp and my computer and adjust it on screen. No need to bend over and try to navigate the very complex interface using a few knobs and a couple of characters.

The two presets I use most are just a bit of TS 808 overdrive (very close to the real thing) and a touch of short delay and another with more gain and a long delay. The whah switches in or out during any preset and that's set to a clyde type. I use a flanger, a phaser and leslie added to the other presets for three more. The stomp mode is very handy to turn overdrive or time/modulation effects on or off.

There is so much more that it can do, but you have to look past the factory presets which are damn near all junk. The amp sims, octave, compression, whammy pedal and such are all pretty darn good. The whammy pedal sound is the same digitech whammy and cheaper than buying the digitech whammy by itself.

I happen to think this RP series is great. I bet most people couldn't blind A/B this thing from most pedals.

I have on constant pedal that I always always play through and is always on - an older ZVex Super Hard On. It's such a great boost/buffer. Thinking of picking up a Centaur to do the same thing a bit differently.

Kap'n - I like the concept of "option anxiety," and I know exactly what you mean. In a way, I feel like I've finally killed off my own version of that disorder, which had something to do with not owning anything you were going to use ALL THE TIME EVERY DAY (Bog knows what scolding from my Dad cemented that one in place). My recent guitar-and-pickup binge is the proof of the cure.

About half the time, the M13 gets turned on just for one of the reverbs. The other half of the time, it's for one or two effects for a specific sound. I haven't even tried the looper yet, or heard more than 2/3 of the models, I'd guess. And I'm not even gonna feel bad about it. :) Nowadays, having stuff like this feels more like being a painter with a complete set of oil paints... if I never use that tube of rare Celadon Green for anything but one little highlight in a still life one day, then I will be glad to have had it laying around.
