    Incoming NGD

Well just got a deal on an item I have wanted for decades. You don't see them too often, and when you do, weight has/can be an issue. Played one back in Dec and it was almost 9.75 lbs. Others were heavier.

I have inbound a CS Gibson 54 RI Les Paul Custom in ebony. Yep the one with the staple pup in the neck and a p90 in the bridge.

    Weight is 8 lbs 5 oz. That's 1 oz over 8.25 lbs!!!
and I got it for $1000+ less than normal new going price.

    Should be arriving Friday.

Not being knowledgeable of Gibbies, I don't know if that's a standard matte finish (opposed to a gloss), but that's a purty guitar. Won't be throwing off a lot of sharp reflections under stage lights, that's for sure!

It?s their VOS finish. Not matte, but not brand new glossy. Picture a glossy that has been used for years/decades without rub throughs

Wow, sign me up! Traditionally mounted ABR1 too.

That's one I'd love to try. What a great guitar. Happy for you!

I don?t know if I?ll be able to sleep tonight. This weekend I?ll work on the music room. The Oxblood STD will go to the closet. This will be out right next to my R9.

Already waiting for the setlist for not this weekend but the next to see where it gets stage time.

Very nice! I've had a jones for one of those for a couple years now.
Looking for them even used prices are crazy - when I worked at Guitar Center (ok, that was 25 years ago...) we couldn't give them away, much less at the $2500 they were going for then. Now that same guitar is up on the sites for 2+ times that...

The hog top with the single coils is a really nice sound. They have cut for days but retain warmth. You'll dig it. You may want to add extra thumbwheels to keep the posts from bending and check the ABR1 to make sure it hasn't collapsed too much. Other than that, they're dependable workhorses.

I had a 1955 Les Paul Custom a few years back. The real deal.
That staple pickup is absolutely dreamy!

Chuck, I believe you played it at "Lou's Jam" once upon a time.

Got to spend some serious time with the 54RI LPC today. It?s a keeper. Sounded great, played great, more so, inspired me to play some new licks.

I remember that guitar very well. Its was hard to put down. That's the one you left in the restaurant where we had garbage plates and we had to go back for it, lol.

Oh, by the way, I have two shows near me next weekend, you're more than welcome to come hang if you want to knock some rust off. No pressure I know this is lousy travel weather time, just letting you know the boys in the band have your back.

Are you guys cross-posting from the Les Paul Forum? I haven't seen a Fender-related post here in ages. I include myself among the guilty ones.

For NGDs, I do tend to post on multi forums.
But heh, I don?t think I x posted to LPF for my 57 Strat RI or 52 Tele RI or my 60 Tele RI.

That is so nice of you Chuck! I am unfortunately just getting over the flu and have to start moving to a new place over the next couple of weeks!
Let's make a point of getting together over the summer. Maybe another Lou's Cottage Jam. That would be awesome!
